Master Cylinder - Brake for Discovery 1 (1989 – 1998) Non ABS (Up to LA081991) – NTC4991

Product Description

The brake master cylinder is the primary hydraulic component that converts pedal input into hydraulic pressure across the braking circuit. Part NTC4991 is specifically designed for non-ABS braking systems on early Discovery 1 vehicles (up to chassis LA081991), where a faulty or worn master cylinder typically presents as a spongy pedal, gradual pedal sink under sustained pressure, or brake fluid loss with no visible external leak. Correct replacement with the specified unit ensures proper bore diameter and port alignment for the non-ABS hydraulic circuit.

Key Features

  • Designed for non-ABS hydraulic braking systems - not compatible with ABS-equipped variants
  • Direct OEM-equivalent replacement requiring no modification to existing brake lines or pedal box
  • Matched to the original bore specification for correct hydraulic pressure output
  • When replacing, inspect the brake servo, fluid reservoir, and brake lines for wear or contamination before refilling with fresh DOT 4 fluid

Vehicle Fitment

Fits Discovery 1 (1989–1998) non-ABS variants up to chassis LA081991, and Range Rover Classic from chassis DA301158.
