Morel MPS 550W Monoblock Class D Subwoofer Amplifier

Product Description

The Morel MPS 550W Monoblock Class D Subwoofer Amplifier (MOR MPS 1.550) is Morel's Performance Series dedicated subwoofer amplifier — a compact Class D monoblock delivering 350W RMS at 4 Ohm and 550W RMS at 2 Ohm with the audiophile-grade signal path and component selection that characterises all MPS Performance Series amplification. For systems where a dedicated subwoofer amplifier is preferred over the integrated sub channel of the MPS 5.950, the MPS 1.550 provides powerful, clean, low-distortion subwoofer power in a compact unit that pairs perfectly with the MPS 4.400 for a complete 5-channel active system.

Class D topology is the ideal choice for a dedicated subwoofer amplifier — its high efficiency produces less heat and draws less current from the vehicle's electrical system than equivalent Class A/B designs, while the subwoofer's bandwidth requirements mean that the sonic characteristics of Class D operation are entirely appropriate for bass reproduction. Morel's selection of audiophile-grade components in the signal path ensures that the sonic character of the MPS 1.550 is clean, controlled and musical rather than the bright, etched character of budget Class D designs. The MPS 1.550 shares the same front-mounted connection layout, three turn-on modes, adjustable low-pass crossover (40–220 Hz), variable bass boost (0–12 dB at 45 Hz) and switchable subsonic filter (off/25/35 Hz) as the 5.950 sub channel. Optional MPS-R1 remote bass control compatible.

  • Monoblock Class D — 350W at 4Ω / 550W at 2Ω RMS — dedicated subwoofer power with audiophile-grade MPS signal path; pairs with MPS 4.400 for a complete 5-channel system
  • Adjustable LP crossover, bass boost and subsonic filter — 40–220 Hz LP; 0–12 dB bass boost at 45 Hz; subsonic filter at off/25/35 Hz for precise subwoofer control
  • Three turn-on modes — remote, DC offset or signal sensing; front-mounted connections for clean installation; compact chassis pairs with MPS 4.400 in stacked configuration
  • Optional MPS-R1 remote bass control — convenient bass level adjustment from the listening position; compatible with MOR MPS R1

For the 4-channel full-range amp see MOR MPS 4.400. For the 5-channel all-in-one see MOR MPS 5.950. Accessories: MOR MPS HL, MOR MPS R1, MOR MPS STKP.
