Alternator Assembly The alternator is the heart of your Land Rover's electrical system, providing the electrical energy required to run the engine, recharge the battery and provide all the safety and creature comforts for you and your passengers. The alternator is a generator driven by a belt from the engine with built-in components to rectify and regulate the electrical energy to prevent overcharging and damaging the battery and other components.
