Fuse
An electrical fuse protects a circuit from overload. The fuse has a special wire that burns out if the specified current is exceeded to protect the wiring and components from damage. Fuses only blow when a fault is present. Always rectify the fault before replacing the fuse with the same ampere rating fuse.
