Lower Ball Joint
Ball joints are used to connect suspension and steering components to allow smooth movement as the wheels travel over undulations and the front wheels turn for steering. Over time these ball joints can wear out, particularly on Land Rovers that have a lot of off-road use. This is noticeable as knocks and bangs from the suspension and vague steering or wandering, especially under braking. Ball joints are often handed, and there can be upper and lower ball joints too.
