The intercooler is designed to cool the intake air after the turbocharger has compressed and heated it. Cooler air is denser, containing more oxygen for a better and more efficient burn of fuel. The original Land Rover intercooler design can have problems due to the core blocking up with mud if the vehicle is used off-road, as the intercooler is mounted at the lowest point in the front of the car.
This performance intercooler is easier to clean and less prone to blockage due to the courser, less dense fin design whilst dramatically improving airflow, performance and economy, even without any further tuning. Tests have shown that a minimum improvement in fuel economy of 12-15% with better throttle response and power in the lower and mid-range engine revs is noticeably improved.
The intercooler is simple to install without significant modifications to the vehicle. The performance intercooler makes full use of the space available behind the bumper. It is designed with an integral fan cowl extension to ensure there is no loss of cooling efficiency and is supplied with mounting brackets and a fitting guide.
