We’ve been working hard behind the scenes here at Thomas Performance and it comes with great pleasure to introduce to you our very latest range of TD5 Performance Turbos by Honeywell Garrett.
Our Garrett TD5 upgrade turbos are available in two applications; Stage 1 and Stage 2.
For both Stage 1 & 2 we start with a brand new Garrett turbo designed for the Land Rover TD5 which will replace the standard OE Garrett GT20 waste gate unit (GT2052S) originally fitted on your vehicle. The new “Hybrid” Garrett is a direct replacement upgrade from the standard turbo, designed so owners can simply unbolt and remove their existing turbo and then bolt on our Stage 1 or 2 upgrade unit.
So, starting with a brand new OE Garrett GT2052S turbo, we machine the turbo housing to accommodate a larger billet compressor wheel (in this case it’s a larger higher flowing 58mm diameter wheel). The standard compressor wheel is then replaced and the turbine wheel rotating assembly is high speed balanced and the turbocharger fully tested and calibrated for increased flow and performance.
For example, with our Stage I turbo upgrade, owners tend to see a 40% increase over a standard stock TD5 turbo and with the Stage II a 45% increase over the stock TD5 turbo.
We strongly advise owners fit our Stage 1 & 2 turbos in conjunction with a larger intercooler, boost box, silicone boost hoses & a free-flow exhaust to help achieve the maximum performance from the turbo, allowing the engine to breathe more easily and produce more power.
With the above modifications and a suitable remap the TD5 can achieve up-to 200bhp.
When fitting any new turbo we also strongly recommend that you replace the engine oil, air and oil filters as well.
