The unique patented piston carrier allows the same swinging action to open the back door while still attached to the spare wheel carrier. All the weight of the spare wheel is taken off the back door by the spare wheel carrier, mounted onto the chassis. It is important you make sure the back door of the Defender has not been modified or changed as the backing plate utilises the existing holes.
Mantec's swing away carrier fits Defender 90 and 110 models and makes the rear door automatically swings out of the way. Smooth action is aided by a smooth strut.
Our kits come partially assembled, meaning you can simply bolt the swing-away to your Defender in around 2hrs.
If your Defender has never had a factory spare wheel carrier on the rear door or your factory carrier does NOT have removable spacers and your vehicle is fitted with alloy wheels, you will need to select the option with 3 additional spacers/stud extenders to fit the alloy spare wheel to the swing away carrier.

I fitted this kit to my '87 Defender with relative ease. The backdoor swings great now & I'm really happy with the quality. Bargain!

TPUK have given great service and the price of the Mantec wheel carrier was the most competitive I found. A real bonus that it had already been partially assembled. Tom responded to all my queries quickly and politely. Fitting to my Defender 110 CSW was straight forward, only took a couple of hours. The quality of the product is very good. I would highly recommend both product and TPUK.
